Privacy notice
The short version: we ask for your email because that's where we send the comic. We never see your card details. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, and this site doesn't track you.
What we collect
When you buy
- Your email address. This one is essential: it's where the download link goes, and where each month's issue goes if you subscribe.
- Your name, if you enter it at checkout.
- Purchase details: what you bought, when, how much you paid and in what currency.
- Your country and, where applicable, your state. Payhip needs it to calculate any applicable sales tax.
- Your shipping address, only if you buy a print edition.
What we never receive
Your card number, its expiration date, its security code and your PayPal credentials never pass through us. They go straight to Payhip, Stripe and PayPal, which are PCI-DSS certified. All we see is that the payment cleared, plus the last four digits.
When you write to us
We keep the email and what you tell us, so we can follow up on your case.
When you're just visiting
This page sets no first-party cookies and runs no analytics. We don't follow you around the internet, we don't build a profile on you, and there are no advertising pixels. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical server logs — IP address, browser, time of visit — for security purposes and for a limited time. If we add analytics later, we'll update this notice before turning it on.
Payhip's checkout does set its own cookies, which are necessary for the cart and payment to work. That happens on their domain and is governed by their privacy notice.
What we use it for
- Delivering what you bought and supporting you if something fails.
- Sending you the monthly issue, if you're subscribed.
- Notifying you about changes to your subscription, the price, or these policies.
- Meeting our tax and accounting obligations.
- Preventing fraud and misuse of our publications.
- Letting you know when a new issue is out, only if you gave us permission. Every email carries its own unsubscribe link.
We don't use your data for automated decision-making about you, or for targeted advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the providers needed to make this work, and only what each one needs:
- Payhip — store, checkout, file delivery and tax calculation.
- Stripe and PayPal — payment processing.
- Our email provider — sending download links and notices.
- Our hosting provider — hosting this site.
- A shipping carrier — only if you ordered a print edition.
- Authorities — only where the law requires it, under a valid legal process.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information with anyone — not advertisers, not data brokers, not other publishers.
How long we keep it
- Purchase records: seven years, because tax law requires it.
- Your email on the notification list: until you unsubscribe.
- Support emails: two years after the case is closed.
- Shipping addresses: for the length of the delivery plus the return window, and after that only in the accounting record.
Your rights
Write to hola@pasiondeloeste.com from the address you bought with, and you can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you and what we use it for.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your data, except what we're required to keep for tax purposes.
- Give you a copy of your information in a file you can open.
- Stop sending you promotional email.
We respond within 30 calendar days, we don't charge you for exercising these rights, and we don't give you worse service for having exercised them.
One heads-up: if you ask us to delete your email, you lose access to the download links tied to it. Save your files first.
If you live in California
The CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request that we delete or correct it, to limit the use of sensitive information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of those rights. In the past twelve months we have not sold or shared personal information as those laws define those terms, and we don't collect sensitive information categories. To exercise your rights, write to the address above.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom
We process your data on the basis of performing the purchase contract, your consent (for promotional email), and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud. You have the rights granted by the GDPR, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
International transfers
Our providers are located in the United States and the United Kingdom, so your information is processed outside your country if you buy from elsewhere. All of them operate under contracts with standard data protection clauses.
Security
The site and the checkout travel encrypted over HTTPS. Access to purchase records is limited to the people who need it to do their work. Even so, no system is infallible: if a data breach affecting you ever occurred, we would notify you by email within the timeframes the law requires.
Minors
This site and our publications are for readers 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn we've received a minor's data, we delete it. If you're a parent or guardian and believe this happened, write to us.
Changes to this notice
If we update it, we change the date at the top. When the change is significant — for example, if we started using analytics — we'll email you before it takes effect.
